San Diego Mars Rovers
The original San Diego Mars Rover is a 1/4-scale operational model of the NASA/JPL’s Mars Exploration Rovers (MER) “Spirit” and “Opportunity” — which are still operational on Mars today, over five Earth years after landing on the Red Planet in January 2004!
The MER replica is accompanied by two 1/4-scale operational Sojourner rover models, plus a pack of other teleoperated rovers, including ROV-R, AstroVEX, and AstroLynx (donated by San Diego Project ASTRO).
For more information, including how to schedule a visit for your school or organization, see the Mars Rovers page.
Mars Movie Night
Gerry Williams of The Mars Society — San Diego hosts a monthly Mars Movie Night, usually (but not always) on the 3rd Friday of each month. He shows a selection from the Mars Movie Guide, and often an episode of a Duck Dodgers cartoon as well. See the calendar for a listing of upcoming movies.
Showtime is 7:00pm at Studio 106 in the Golden Hill area just east of downtown San Diego, unless otherwise noted. Admission is free, and popcorn is provided (you can bring snacks or drinks to share). Please RSVP to Gerry Williams.
