“THE BOX”

“Norma and Arthur Lewis, a suburban couple with a young child, receive a simple wooden box as a gift, which bears fatal and irrevocable consequences. A mysterious stranger delivers the message that the box promises to bestow upon its owner $1 Million with the press of a button. However, pressing this button will simultaneously cause the death of another human being somewhere in the world, someone they don’t know. With just 24 hours to have the box in their possession, Norma and Arthur find themselves in the cross-hairs of a startling moral dilemma and must face the true nature of their humanity.”

A MARTIAN CHRISTMAS (2008)
When a Martian civilization discovers a space exploration device from Earth, they mistakenly assume Earthlings are planning to invade Mars! In response, they send a spaceship to destroy Earth, which just happens to arrive during one of our most beloved holiday seasons — Christmas. But things don’t go as planned: an 8-year-old Martian kid, Kip, stowaways on the ship to spend time with his busy father, the commander of the ship.

THE CHRISTMAS MARTIAN (1971)
This is a French Canadian Christmas movie for children. The Martian comes to this small town in Quebec and becomes friends with the town children. He gives them smarties to get the children into his spacecraft. This alarms the parents and they decide to kill the alien. The alien wins them over and they have a great big Christmas party.

SPACE BATTLESHIP YAMATO: THE MOVIE
(1977)

In 2199, the population of the Earth has retreated underground after pollution destroys the surface. The survivors of the cataclysm are further menaced by the brutal aliens from the planet Gorgon whose relentless assaults look set to crush the last of the human race. But when a spaceship from the planet Iskandair crashes on Mars, Earth learns of a substance known as Cosmo-DNX which can clean the planet’s blighted atmosphere. They also find plans that helps them to develop a faster-than-light that will enable to to travel to Iskandair for help – the drive is built and fitted to the specially converted World War II battlecruiser which sets out on a journey beset by running battles with the Gorgon forces.

The Robotic Exploration of Mars
Mars is a very busy place for exploration these days with the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, 2001 Mars Odyssey and ESA’s Mars Express in Martian orbit, and the two Mars Exploration Rovers, Spirit and Opportunity, still on the surface of the red planet. We’ll look at all the different robotic craft and their missions, as well as the next several planned missions by the spacefaring nations of Earth.
