Launch Picnic Video

launch picnic canopyWe had a great time at this year’s air- and water-rocket launch picnic at Morley Field. I’ve posted a video recap of the event, featuring Eric Hall’s awesome air launcher and our somewhat-less-impressive water rocket launcher. Be sure to click on the HD button to get the most out of the video, our first taken with the new Flip Ultra HD camera we’ll be taking to all events:

Even though our year-old water launcher gave us some great moments (as seen below), the video makes it pretty plain who should be building our launchers from now on. Erik, you’re on the hook. :)

Launch Picnic

Sun, Aug 2, 2009

1:00 pm to 4:00 pm

Location:
Morley Field (map)
Texas St and J St, San Diego, CA

2008 Launch Picnic canopyWe’re celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon landing with a picnic lunch and some rocket launches. Bring your own lunch and blanket; we’ll provide a launch pad and help you turn soda bottles and paper tubes into awesome water and air rockets.

We’ll choose a picnic spot at the north end of Morley Field. Park in the lot near Texas and J St and look for the SD Space tent canopy. Email events@sdspace.org if you have any questions, or if you have empty 2-liter soda bottles to donate to the event.

Hope to see you there!
