Don’t worry if you can’t make it this time; there will be another one next month. No need to RSVP, either; just stop on by and look for the space geeks table. SD Space members will be wearing their t-shirts for easy identification. See you there!

Can’t make Space Night Out? Or maybe you’re not into the pub scene but you’re still looking for a fun evening talking about space exploration news, our future in space, and anything else that comes to mind? It’s a perfect night in for space geeks of all ages where everyone can socialize, network, chat about the latest space news or even play space board games.

San Diego Space Society and Project Astro have combined forces to offer an educational, space-related, hands-on workshop for area teachers intended to enhance S.T.E.M. education curriculum. There are four areas of focus: Life Science, Physical Science, Earth & Space Science and Engineering. This workshop is made possible by a NASA Summer of Innovation grant.
The NASA Office of Education is pleased to announce the selected sites for the second and final phase of applications for the Summer of Innovation Mini-Grant opportunity in partnership with the National Space Grant Foundation for 2011. The mini-grant aspect of the SoI enables local organizations to infuse NASA-themed science, technology, engineering and mathematics, or STEM, content and activities to middle school students through existing summer and/or afterschool programs and anticipates engaging over 8,000 students in this fiscal year!
The workshop will be conducted at the RHFleet Science Center for registered participants on October 1st.

It’s that time of year! The Winter South Park Walkabout is once again upon us. And the Space Travelers Emporium will keep it’s doors open late for an evening of community and festivities.
The theme for this Walkabout is “Twinkle Twinkle, Mix & Mingle”, so we are inviting everyone to stop by and meet our members who will share the latest happenings in space and our bigger and more exciting plans for SD Space in 2012. The kids will be able to make a star ornament which they will be able to bring home with them.
Our ever popular Mars Astronaut will be walking around greeting people and will be available for photos. And there will be special holiday inspired Emporium Sales going on all evening.
The San Diego Space Society will continue it’s 2012 Membership Drive with several drawings for free memberships. If you fill out a membership form, you will automatically be entered to win a free 2012 Membership. You need not be present to win.
