Gerry Williams and Jesse Clark traveled to Horizon Christian School in Clairemont for a two hour presentation of “A Closer Look At Mars” by the San Diego Space Society and the Mars Society-San Diego.
100 students composed of 8th and 9th graders from Ms. Ruiz’s classes attended the presentation from 9-11am. The Mars Society display was set up and with three of our rovers on hand.
Throughout the presentation, the students were treated to interactive displays such as the Earth/Mars/Moon Gravity Bricks, Mars globes, Martian Soil Simulant, and we ended with a short Sojourner run and some video from the static MER model.
After the presentation, four students who answered their questions correctly got a chance to teleoperate our new ROV.R3 around the back of the classroom while viewing the video from the screen at the front of the room.
Everyone seemed to enjoy the presentation and we had many thanks (and questions) as the students exited.
