Sat, Dec 12, 2009

1:00 pm to 2:30 pm

Location:
Serra Mesa Branch Library (map)
9005 Aero Dr, San Diego, CA

Disney's Man in Space book coverWalt Disney was instrumental in the 1950s teaching the public about the possible future of space travel. Through films, rides, toys and publications Wernher von Braun’s space flight progression was imaginatively shared with a wider audience. In addition learn how these efforts may have influenced our real spaceflight efforts.

Orange County Space Society member John Sisson will be giving an updated version of his program which focuses on how Walt Disney helped to ignite the flame of imagination and to show how the idea of going into space, to the Moon, and even to Mars, were not things of a far off future, but something that could be accomplished in our lifetimes.

This event is open to the public. Contact events@sdspace.org if you have any questions.
