Mars Movie Night: “Princess of Mars”

Princess of Mars (click to watch the trailer)The Mars Society – San Diego will be showing the world premiere of The Asylum’s new feature film “Princess of Mars” for the monthly Mars Movie Night.

Based on the novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs, a US soldier finds himself inexplicably transported to Mars in the midst of a war between two alien races.

NOTE: This film is unrated: It contains scenes of Sci-Fi action and language.

An episode of “DUCK DODGERS” (2003-2005) will also be shown.

“SpaceUp”—World’s First Space Exploration Unconference—Announced

These forward-thinking companies—and dozens of others just like them—are all within a day’s drive of San Diego. Which is why the San Diego Space Society is today announcing SpaceUp, the world’s first space exploration unconference, to be held in late February/early March, 2010. Stars in the ParkAt dusk on the first Wednesday of each month, following the monthly “Sky Tonight” planetarium show in the Reuben H. Fleet Space Theater, members of the SDAA set up telescopes west of the Fleet on The Prado, for free public sky viewing.

The Mars Society San Diego and the San Diego Space Society set up displays near the telescopes. Stop by and say hello, or contact events@sdspace.org if you’re interested in volunteering.
