The Moon Society is trying out a new online science fiction magazine, Moonbeams. The third issue has been posted, and it’s free to read (and to share):
Moonbeams is a new quarterly publication of the Moon Society, introduced last fall. In electronic form only – as a downloadable pdf file – Moonbeams is a science fiction rag, specializing in realistic (no fantasy – no wish-it-were-so physics) near space frontier tales.
The function of Moonbeams is both to expand the vision of our own members, and to draw interested visitors into the Society. Anyone downloading an issue of Moonbeams may freely circulate it to others. Indeed, we encourage you to do so!
Take a look, and post your review in the comments. They’re also calling for submissions, so it might be a good time to revisit that near-future space exploration story you’ve always wanted to write.

This week, tech blog Gizmodo is featuring a topic near and dear to our hearts: space. Their Get Me Off This Rock series features pretty much everything spacy, including astronaut food, Space Camp, the ISS, the Mars Desert Research Station, and (appropriately for this week) Star Trek.
…because flying to space and deciphering the Universe is not just a desire to go to the unknown, to open new commercial pathways, or discover new lands to move to. This quest goes beyond Humanity’s past and greatest adventures because it tries to answer the most important questions of them all: Who are we? Why are we here? How did we get here? Are we alone in this rock we call Earth?
There’s quite a lot there already, and the week’s not over yet.
