The San Diego Space Society was founded in 2008 with the purpose of raising awareness and educating the general public to the benefits of human exploration of space and San Diego's role in space development, as well as to the idea of creating a spacefaring civilization within our lifetimes.

SD Space meets monthly at the Serra Mesa Branch Library and participates in space-related events around San Diego Country and Southern California. The general public is welcome to attend any meeting listed on this site.

Yuri’s Night Space Raffle

Yuri's Night

Can’t make it to our Yuri’s Night party? Like the idea of flying to a party in another city? Just want to win fabulous prizes for a paltry sum? If so, the new Yuri’s Night Space Raffle might just be the ticket.

The executive council for Yuri’s Night, The World Space Party, is pleased to announce the launch of a new fund-raising campaign at SpaceRaffle.net, the world’s first long term raffle campaign supporting a space cause.

Starting with a raffle of up to $500 in travel / accommodation funds to attend any Yuri’s Night celebration, the Space Raffle plans to follow this with raffles of Zero Gravity flights of the same type of airplane traveling in parabolic flight patterns simulating weightlessness that NASA uses for microgravity experiments and the training of astronauts.

Though I can’t imagine why anyone would want to miss the San Diego party just to attend somewhere else, the first raffle prize provides a great way for SD Space fans around the country to come celebrate with us in person. I myself will enter just for a chance at a Zero G flight. And even if I don’t win, it’s for a good cause. How can you argue with a Zero Gravity Football tournament?
