Interim Bylaws Approved

The interim board (Jesse Clark, Dave Dressler, and Chris Radcliff) met via teleconference on February 20 to draft a set of chapter bylaws. We used the bylaws of the Orange County Space Society as a guideline, and made adjustments as necessary to suit the San Diego branch. These bylaws will be sent to the NSS as part of our chapter documentation.

The permanent founding bylaws (probably very similar to these) will be voted upon by the assembled members at the founding meeting on April 13th. Officers and board members will also be elected during that meeting.

General notes:

  • Jesse suggested that we contact notable San Diego space community members and ask them to stand for nomination to the Board of Directors.
  • The interim board will compile a list of director and officer candidates submitted by members and distribute the list online and at the Yuri’s Night party (the night before the general meeting).
  • Dave recommended that candidates join the SDSS Google group and post their biographies as Google profiles.

Update: The bylaws were changed slightly based on input from NSS staff. I’ve uploaded a new PDF and modified the bylaws page to match.
